Mandatory evacuations were issued Wednesday afternoon when the South Valley Fire started southwest of Dufur in North-Central Oregon.
The fire may have started when a shop caught fire.
Strong winds caused the fire to grow fast.
Large air tankers and helicopters were used to drop water and retardant on the fire.
Several buildings have been destroyed.
The Wasco County Sheriff's Office issued Level 3 evacuations for residents on several roads including: South Valley Road, Rail Hollow Road and Shell Rock Road.
