A man and his Jack Russell terrier were attacked by two pit bulls while on Catalina Island.

The incident was captured on video by a tourist's cell phone.

The victim, John Brady says he decided to take a boat trip out to the island with his dog Josh.

As they were walking along Avalon Pier, two 11-year-old pit bulls ran after and attacked Josh.

When Brady tried to defend his pet, the pit bulls turned on him too.

“They attacked my little dog, Josh...almost killed him, almost killed me.”

Avalon Harbor Patrol officers eventually pulled the dogs off of him.

Brady was airlifted to UCLA Harbor Medical Center where he had severe injuries to his calf and arms.

Authorities say the owner of the pit bulls has agreed to euthanize both dogs.

Brady will undergo various surgeries and Josh will make a full recovery after having surgery for a gash on his leg.

A GoFundMe page has been started to help raise money for Josh's vet bills.
