Salem Police were called to the Best Western Plus hotel on Ryan Dr SE Saturday at approximately 3:26 a.m. Saturday on a report of a shooting involving a security guard and another subject.
Arriving officers found a male subject in a parking lot who had been shot and a private security guard on scene. The subject who had been shot has been identified as 25-year old Jose Francisco Moreno. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The security guard has been identified as 33-year old Gregory Weston Capwell. He is employed with Homefront Security. Capwell has been interviewed by investigators.
No charges have been filed. The Marion County District Attorney is reviewing the case.
