RENTON - A few new faces and the first big injury were the top storylines from day four of Seattle Seahawks training camp.

First, we'll start with the bad news.

Tight end Anthony McCoy went down with an injury toward the late stages of practice and laid face down on the field for several minutes.

Several players including Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett, K.J. Wright and Doug Baldwin circled around McCoy as he was attended to by trainers. McCoy eventually was helped to his feet and carted off the field with his head in his hands.

Head coach Pete Carroll said early signs are McCoy suffered another torn left Achilles.

"Early indications are he hurt his other Achilles,” Carroll said. “If it is what they think it is, it’s just a real heartbreaker. He worked so hard to get back and all. If it was the same Achilles you might understand it but we think it’s the other one. So we’ll see what happens.”

McCoy suffered a torn right Achilles in May 2013 during OTAs that forced him to miss all of last season. McCoy was re-signed to a fully guaranteed one-year deal in March.

Seattle previously reached out to free agent tight end Jermichael Finley this offseason before Zach Miller agreed to a restructured contract. Finley remains a free agent and it will be curious to see if the Seahawks circle back to Finley following McCoy's injury.

Roster Moves:

The Seahawks signed veteran right tackle Eric Winston, cornerback Terrell Thomas and wide receiver Randall Carroll prior to practice on Tuesday.

To clear space on the roster, Seattle placed receiver Taylor Price on injured reserve and waived cornerback Chandler Fenner and guard Bronson Irwin.

Winston has started 119 consecutive games in the NFL for the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals over the last seven seasons. He spent 2013 with the Cardinals.

"I've been searching for the right situation. I wanted to go somewhere we could win and when they called, I know they're definitely capable of winning and winning big," Winston said. "It was exciting to think that maybe I'd get a chance to play in some games I've never had the change to play in before."

With Michael Bowie sitting out due to a shoulder injury, Carroll said the team wanted to add veteran depth to the position alongside Bowie and Justin Britt.

"We'd like to have another guy competing for the spot," Carroll said. "Eric has done a lot of playing in his time so we'll see how it works out. ... Glad to see him out here battling."

Carroll said Bowie would be back on the field in the next day or two.

Thomas appeared in all 16 games for the New York Giants last year, making seven starts, after missing two full seasons due to knee injuries.

Thomas had suffered a torn ACL on three different occasions and has managed to return to his football career.

"He's had a fantastic career," Carroll said. Been a great nickel player and a good solid starter when he was starting at corner. A real tough guy. Great attitude. Great competitor. Plays smart. The fact that he was out there, we just thought let's bring him in and see what he can do for the competition of it and cut him loose and give him a chance to do it."

Thomas has 67 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble for the Giants last season.

Price apparently couldn't get healthy enough to be a factor for Seattle. He's suffered injuries and been placed on injured reserve in each of the last three seasons.

Injury Report:

Guard James Carpenter and linebacker Bobby Wagner didn't finish practice after some minor issues surfaced during the session.

Carpenter suffered tightness in his left calf while Wagner suffered a tight hamstring and were held out of the latter stages of practice.

Defensive tackle Jimmy Staten (knee/hamstring) and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (oblique) were also sidelined. LB/DE O'Brien Schofield was given a day off for rest.

Tackle Michael Bowie (shoulder) and receiver Kevin Norwood (foot) missed another day of practice but are expected to return in the next day or two, according to Carroll.

Linebackers Bruce Irvin (hip) and Korey Toomer (hamstring) remain on the physically unable to perform list. Cornerback Eric Pinkins (Lisfranc) remains on the non-football injury list.

Linebacker Malcolm Smith (ankle), safety Kam Chancellor (hip) and tackle Russell Okung (foot) remain sidelined after offseason surgeries.
