A 23-year-old man faces arraignment in Multnomah County Friday, in connection with a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a woman on I-84 earlier this week.

It happened just after midnight Sunday morning,  on I-84 eastbound near Northeast 53rd Avenue.

Portland police sat the victim vehicle was rear ended at high speed, causing extensive damage and injuring both driver and passenger.

The front seat passenger, 67-year-old Judy Bolton, suffered significant traumatic injuries and was transported to a Portland hospital.

The suspect vehicle continued eastbound on I-84, but was later located abandoned at Northeast Halsey Street and 102nd Avenue. The driver fled the area before officers arrived, and they seized the vehicle for further investigation.

Traffic investigators were able to identify the driver and Thursday morning, Hahn Nguyen was taken into custody.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Hit and Run (two counts), Assault in the Third Degree, Initiating a False Police Report, and Reckless Driving.
