Blazers Season Ends with 13th Straight Defeat
Posted Thursday, April 18th 2013 @ 12am

Despite a heroic effort from All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge, who returned to the lineup and had 30 points and 21 rebounds in just 32 minutes, the Trail Blazers ended the season with a 99-88 home loss to the Golden State Warriors.  Aldridge was spectacular at the offensive end, and he joins the late Maurice Lucas as the only Trail Blazers players with two career 30-point, 20-rebound games.

Former Washington State Cougar star Klay Thompson drained 5 of 7 from beyond the arc while leading the Warriors with 24 points. Stephen Curry made four 3-pointers to set an NBA record for made threes in a season (272), breaking Ray Allen's single-season record.

Blazer point guard Damian Lillard, a virtual lock to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, scored 21 points. Lillard joined Oscar Robertson, Allen Iverson, and Damon Stoudamire as the only NBA rookies to average 19.0 points and 6.0 in a season.  Lillard also led the entire NBA in total minutes played in a season, the first rookie to do so since Elvin Hayes in 1968-69.

The Blazers failed to win a game in the month of April for the first time in franchise history, and their 13-straight losses tied a club record.

The Blazers missed the playoffs, but will spend the next few months trying to improve the team through the NBA Draft, trades, and free agency.  The Blazers will be under the salary cap and have room to maneuver in an effort to improve the roster.
